Subject: [vi-kindle] Re: Reading on the fire tablet with text to speech versus reading with voice view

hi mary. i know about the ability for authors to nix the t2s on kindle
books if they wish. that is why i always checked out a sample on my
kindle keyboard before buying to find out if the kindle keyboard would
have the t2s part of the option dropdown.

simple dreams, which was trashed by reviewers, was not t2s enabled,
although i really wanted to make my own decision on the book.

your question is interesting, because i never tried to see if the
kindle fire could still read back that book.

so, i will download a sample to my kindle fire and find out! and, report later.

on another note, blame the authors guild for this option offered to
authors by amazon /smile. for the most part, i think the t2s option is
removed so you will move to an audible book or cd/dvd. just sayin'.

here is an interesting link on this whole situation.

OK, thank you, William. That help article I read on Amazon was misleading.
Here is another question. There are some books sold for Kindle for which
text to speech is not enabled. If you have voiceover and an i-devicewith the
Kindle app, you can still read those books, because you are reading with
voiceover. But if you have to read with the approvedd text to speech method,
then it doesn't work as for instance on android. So the question is, can you
read continuously a Kindle book using voice view rather than the text to
speech method that is generally used? I hope that made sense.

hi mary. yup. wrong assumption.

to make sure changed voices.

changed to a brit voice. kinda good too!

and, the same in kindle fire-voice-screen-reader and reading of kindle
books.

I was looking at a help topic today, and it seems from when I read that
when
reading with the text to speech on the Kindle fire, you do not use the
same
voice that you do for voice of you. At least, you might not be doing
that,
since there are more voices apparently available for the screen reader
then
there are four text to speech. So if you want to read page by page, you
can
use voice view. But if you are continuously reading, text to speech must
be
enabled for the book, which it isn't always, and then you use whatever
voices are supplied by Amazon. So the question is, is it true that there
are
voices available for the screen reader that are not available for the
continuous reading? Am I making an improper incorrect screen reader that
are
not available when reading text to speech continuously? Am I making a
wrong
assumption here?
