hi. the speaker on my kindle fire 6" is great. i use it in that mode
when taking my daily 2-mile walk while listening to something in my
music collection or from slacker. the route is in my backyard.
can't speak for others though.
perhaps someone with the kindle fire 7" on sale ($40) for mother's day
can speak to that issue.
