William, if you get this book to read, I want to know how you did it. I tried
it on my iPhone and on an android device, annexes six, running the Kindle app,
which does rely on text to speech as offered through the Kindle app, unlike
voiceover. In other words, Kindall doesn't use talkback to read Kindle books.
So if you manage to get it to read, please do enlighten us all as to how you
did it, unless you used codecs. And if it's image-based, codecs shouldn't work
either.

Okay, William. The title of the book is "why teachers quit but firemen
don't. The author is David Perry Brown. Text to speech is enabled. But I
didn't preview the book before I downloaded it.

ocr, it won't read.

I think that Russ's assessment is correct. However, despite that, I have
downloaded one Kindle book for which text to speech is enabled.
Nevertheless, it apparently was prepared from an image file and would
not speak after the introductory material. I loaned the book to Mary
Otten who confirmed my findings on a couple of devices although she does
not have a fire tablet.
