HI.

thanks. I will get vlc, but for audio books if VDR doesn’t work out, I’ll be
looking for something that will remember my position.  especially if I”m
reading an mp3 book that hasn’t been split in to parts.

Speaking of apps, i tried to get talk type voice keyboard, but it’s not
available in my country. so I’m on the hunt for something I can dictate with.

HI William.

Does vlc keep your place in a book?

I do use vlc on my mac, and hubby uses it in windows but have never used a
book marking feature.

thanks

Hi Maria. Australia? I knew that. But, forgot that! That old age
memory thing. Or, I'll just blame it on the frigid weather. LOL.

If you were referring to the default Kindle book reader on the Fire,
it does not play mp3 audio files.

My seven year old Kindle Keyboard does, but, that is a different story
all together!

Moving along. There is the free VLC media player that I like. I think
it only has play and pause though. You can find it easily by saying to
Alexa: open VLC. She will then list the download from the Amazon app
store. At least that was what happened for me.

Of course, VLC will also play video files as well.

Then again, this might be all redundant with VDR.

Let me throw out another app. There is Facebook of course, but, one
can install Facebook Messenger as a stand-alone app. Someone will have
to tell you what the three unmapped buttons at the bottom do, because
they will help alot, however, the worldwide free calling voice audio
is stellar!

Stay well ... William

Hi. Thanks. Will give the default email app a try. Does the book reader do
mp3 audio books. And if so, does it remember your place? I have vdr but not
yet sure how well it will work on the fire. I was able to play an audio file
from drop box but haven't worked out how to rewind and navigate.
