Hi Mary. That's quite interesting. I was under the impression that only the HD
models had voiceView. Could be worth considering then. Though, from the
reviews I have read, it is my understanding that it feels a little plasticky
compared to other models. As I would mainly be using it for books in any
format, the mono speaker probably wouldn't make that much difference to me
anyway. If I were to use it for listening to music, I would probably just use
earphones anyway. Let's face it, for those of us who have iPhones, we only have
one speaker anyway unless you have the newest model.

Hi Carrie,
No I was thinking of the Kindle fire, not an HD. It's the one that came out
about this time last year and has been sold for as little as $40 on sale this
year. I'm pretty sure it too was going to get Alexa. And it does have a
expandable memory in the form of a slot where you can put a card. That's why
I'm thinking that at least for totally blind person, the advantage for the HD
is simply the fact that it is supposed to have stereo.

Hi Mary.
If you are talking about the fire HD7, I did consider this but given that
Alexa is coming to the newer fire models, and the fact that this model has
expandable memory and is cheaper at the moment than last year's 8HD model it
seemed silly not to. I have had a play with a couple of kindle fires and
found them to be ok. My stepdaughter has a 7HD and a friend of mine has an
8.9 HD. I figured I would just get the best model I could for the best
price and right now it seems to be the newest fire 8HD.

I don't have the 8 inch HD. It is a good price. The thing that seems good
about it from the point of view of a totally blind person is the fact that
it's stereo, as opposed to the cheaper fire tablet which is not. But I
wonder really how much difference that makes. I'm also curious what is
drawing you to this device as opposed to the cheaper one which has the same
excess ability. Do you have some vision?

Hi. My name is Kerry and while I have been using the kindle app on my
iPhone for years, I am 99.9%% sure I want a Kindle Fire HD for Christmas,
especially now that the new fire 8HD has just been released, it has a
memory card and the price is phenomenal. However, before I do, I have
some questions about its accessibility and whether any of you on the list
have bought the newest edition to this Kindle family?
Thanks in advance,
