Hi all. Since I seemed to be as clear as mud, let me try again.
1. David said correctly that the Kindle Keyboard isn't able to search
a book among other functions. Correct. The Fire tablet? Yes you can.
2. I use the KK solely for Kindle book reading. I still use, and, it
works great, my Fire tablet for reading email, listening to all kinds
of podcast with Alexa, reading books with the Bard Mobile app,
listening to NPR stories with the NPR app, connecting to Facebook and
Twitter, and, on and on. In fact, pulling up Alexa with my Fire
tablet, listened to all World Series games! But, reading Kindle books?
It's the Kindle Keyboard for me, although, of course, one can read a
book with the Fire tablet as well!
3. Using CODEX, I also save to text format. If I want to search a
book, I just use the find function in notepad on my laptop. It's the
way, I find selections that I want to quote. Also, many of the books I
read have an afterward that lists websites URL's. I can copy and paste
into a browser window to connect and read.
4. The Kindle Keyboard was a 3rd generation Kindle ereader, before the
Fire tablets came out. But, as an ereader, it is not a battery hog in
comparison with smartphones and tablets.
5. I am reading five books concurrently, all on the Kindle Keyboard.
Plus, I can switch between them in seconds. Told you I like to read!
6. Yes, David, I understand blacklisted. But, it's not in a landfill!
As for the price, I'm a unique user, which makes for a smaller slice
of a market that might buy this ereader used, not to mention, that the
KK has been discontinued for years. $16.99 though? Alot of books are
more expensive than that.
7. My first Kindle Keyboard bought in 2010. At the time amazing! Today
we have many more options, but, sometimes the old can't be surpassed
for particular needs. Here, I find this to be the case. And, I have a
cheap back-up.
8. Of course, different strokes for different folks!
