In settings, under general, under accessibility, under rotor, check off all the items you want to have access to within the rotor. When voiceovers is on, you take your thumb and forefinger and touch screen at the same time, rotate them to the left or right to hear the selected items in your rotor menu. When you hear the item you want remove your fingers from the screen and it will be selected. To increase or decrease the value for that item, you take one finger and swipe it up or down. I own both devices, but don't remember how to adjust voice over speed. However, the menu structure for both devices is the same. ----- Original Message ----- From: Craig Werner <craig_werner@xxxxxxxxxxx To: vi-kindle@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Date sent: Thu, 29 Aug 2013 14:14:04 -0400 Subject: [vi-kindle] Re: I bought a Touch... now what? Butch, I believe the latest version of the Kindle App has a user's guide for VoiceOver users as part of the "Help" or "Support" option in "Settings." As far as speed of the voice is concerned, there are options in the "Accessibility" settings of the "General" menu. I hesitate to guide you there with specific steps since I own an iPhone, not an iPod. I did buy a blue tooth keyboard so at least typing in passwords and such is easier. Cheating, perhaps, but it worked. A couple questions, do I have any options as far as voices or reading speed? How can I go forward or back a page? Thanks much. Butch, you'll need the Kindle app from Amazon.com. If you do a search in the App Store for "Kindle," it's likely to be the first entry. Just make sure you download the application that says it's compatible with your model of the iPod. I have a kindle keyboafrd, but would like to try the Ipod. Thanks. If you don't get a knowledgeable response to your question in a day or so, please consider joining the viphone Google group. Its users are glad to answer questions about iPod use since there's so much overlap between the iPhone and iPod in terms of the way the commands work. I'll be glad to provide the URL for the group as well as registration instructions if you need them. I am trying to activate VoiceOver... but when it warns me the hand gestures will be different, and I say "OK", it sits for a minute, then turns VoiceOver off. Any ideas? I am going to go get Kindle for PC for it.
