1. A $6 dongle cable will allow you to connect your full-size usb
keyboard to your Fire tablet. You'll find it on Amazon. Try this link:

2. To get Alexa to respond, double tap and hold the home button at the
bottom of the screen. Release when you hear the chime and give your
command. Try saying, Sing A Song. You don't need to say Alexa. You
will find the home button at the bottom. From the right to left there
is app switcher, home and back. The Alexa app shortcut on the home
screen is mostly used to set-up Alexa skills. Another way to get Alexa
to chime is to do a two-finger double tap and hold on the home screen
and release and give your command when you hear the chime.
3. When you say mute, do you mean the voice from the screenreader?

Is it possible to mute a Fire tablet without turning off VoiceView. I was
arguing this point with a tech troubleshooter last night. I accidentally
double tapped in the wrong place, or two many times, and my speech went
away. I finally fixed it with no help from the tech folks, who really don't
understand that one does not constantly have someone with vision available.
Also, my Alexa app is listed on the home screen. However, the double tap
hold with two fingers doesn't elicit any noise that I can hear. I know the
Alexa works because, when too close to my Echo Dot, it chimes in as well.
I brailled out a very nice Fire TV stick manual, alnd I'm hoping tpo do the
same for VoiceView instructions for the tablet. Thank you, william, because
the first place I am going to look is your blog.
