Thanks, Howard. That confirms what I suspected. This wouldn’t be a big deal,
except I wondering if there isn’t a fire OS version 5.5, which I also missed,
which would mean that for some reason my HD eight has stopped receiving OS
updates all together. Since I had that weird thing back in late September I
think it was, where I was being told I had an update, but when I clicked
update, nothing happened, I’m just wondering if I don’t have some kind of a
problem here with that device.

Hi William and also HD eight owners. I just did a Google search for fire OS
5.6 and hd8. I was taking to a page that showed the various devices and what
is the current OS. According to the page that I found, 5.4.01 is the latest
for the HD eight seventh generation. That seems very strange, but what do I
know. It could be this is an old page. So I’m curious does anybody out here
have an HD eight who has received something later then build the 5.4?

I think also that you will be going through two OS updates. If I am
correct, you have to have the past OS updated before the new one can
be installed. At the date of your last OS update makes me think that.
However, if you currently have OS 5.4 that would not be the case. The
newest OS update skipped 5.5 and jumped to 5.6.
By the way, keep your Fire on overnight, and, the battery should drain
to at least 50%.
