Siena,
I'm impressed that you actually got Talkback to work. I'm still running
an older tablet, a sixth generation HD 8, and so I'm in that category of
having an OS that's probably too old to support Talkback as I can't get
my tablet to recognize it. I don't use it enough to even justify getting
a newer one, like the latest HD 8, and in many ways I prefer VoiceView
over Talkback due to its similarities to VoiceOver on iOS.

Hi William, Mary and Ann,
First of all, thank you all for your prompt responses! I appreciate your help!
William, my sincere apologies as I hadn't explained the issue properly in my
previous message. basically what happens is this: When I ran my clone of
TalkBack, I changed some of the settings, i.e. turned Sound Feedback off,
dimmed screen, as well as some of the verbosity settings. When I suspend/resume
TalkBack using the volume buttons, or even when I reboot the tablet, TalkBack
comes back up each time with all the factory default settings, as if I were
running it on the device for the very first time. In other words, it isn't
saving the changes I've made. I have already contacted the App Cloner
developer, and e gave it a try. However, he wasn't able to get it working on
his Fire tablet as it was an older one whose version of Fire OS was based on an
older Android version, so the Android Accessibility Suite app was not
compatible.
Hopefully I was able to better clarify the issue for you.
Take care,
Siena.

Hi Siena. What do you mean by "it reverts back to TalkBack's default
settings". Stay well. William

Hello everyone,
As I've mentioned in my previous messages, I managed to get the Google Play
Store running on my 9th generation Fire Tablet, and have installed all of
my favourit Android apps. However, the only app that I haven't been able to
install was the Android Accessibility Suite app, which it just says the app
can't be installed, no rhyme or reason. So I managed to install a forked
version of Android Accessibility Suite using an app called App Cloner. I
needed to change the name to TalkBack, as the Fire tablet wouldn't
recognize it under its original name, Android Accessibility Suite. It works
well, and there are no crashes whatsoever, however it doesn't save my
TalkBack settings when I restart the tablet or suspend and resume TalkBack.
Instead, it reverts back to TalkBack's default settings. I was wondering
whether any of you have managed to get TalkBack working on your Fire
devices, and if so how did you manage to get it to work?
Many thanks in advance for any light that you can shed on this issue.
Kind regards,
SIena.
