William, I could be wrong, but I think the down and left gesture takes you
back one single screen like the back button would if it were available in
the kindle book. This will then place you back, presumably, on the page you
were before you went into the book, i.e. your Kindle library. The swipe up
and to the left in one single gesture takes you back to the home screen.
