Hi Barbie. As I have written in other messages, I haven't had any luck
with older models of Fire tablets that I have. My 7 inch, 7th
Generation Fire tablet is the only one that has updated to all of the
goodies. However, you can always try!

As far as pitfalls? Tapping the wrong stuff may put you into the
boonies. However, the correct taps are good. Here is how to go about
it.
1. On your Fire tablet go to Settings/Device Options.
2. Swiping down find the Serial Number of your Fire tablet.
3. When focused on Serial Number tap the Fire tablet glass in rapid
succession five times. Swipe back and forth to see if there are any
new options.
4. If not, you might have to do this twice.
5. Next, you should find a new option called Developer Options.
6. Tap on Developer Options and you will find an option to not allow
your Fire tablet to sleep while charging.

Voice Dictation with the default email app? The poop: When you either
reply or create a new message, the subject and message boxes can be
voiced. As you swipe down past the focused text box, you will hear to
do a two finger double tap and hold on the glass. After hearing a
chime, start talking, still holding on the glass with your two
fingers.
When done, just release and you will hear your spoken words created in
the edit box. Hint: finish a sentence by saying period or
exclaim/question mark. The dictation was perfect!
So, for the new Voice Dictation, no longer an icon on the keyboard.
It's just a gesture!
