Hi,

I am back and so is my tablet. Apparently, there was a problem with the charging cable. I did a reset with Amazon and then plugged in the cable from my Dot and after a while, it simply turned on by itself, grin. The poor woman kept trying to figure out what else we could try and we were just about to disconnect the call and all of a sudden, the tablet started speaking all by itself, grin. She was about as amazed as I was, grin.

Thank you for the suggestion to call Amazon.

Carol

The only other thing I can think of is that maybe you could figure out how to unlock the display and then maybe figure out how to to start alexa maybe alexa could start voiceview for you. However, it will likely be hard to activate alexa without voiceview. But it might be worth a try.

No, I don't have anyone. I will try Amazon, but they didn't know about the two-finger startup until after I had already set up my tablet the first time. Grin. Maybe they are better at it now? I will call them. Thanks for your help.

Do you have anyone sighted who could help you? Otherwise, you might want to contact amazon for help.

Hi Barbie,

I have tried every combination I can come up with. I have pressed and released the button after the chime and pressed the button again and held for the second chime and then put two fingers on the screen. Nothing has happened.

I have held the button until it cycled through two chimes and then put two fingers on the screen.

I have tried the same combinations with fingers toward the top and bottom and with fingers toward each side. I have even held the fingers for about fifteen seconds with no results.

Do you have any other ideas?

Carol

I think your missing an important step.
First turn on your tablet. The chine sound lets you know that the tablet is on and ready for the next step.
Then hold down the power sound til you hear another chime. .
Then release the power button and immediately place two fingers on the screen then hold them there until voiceview announces that voiceview has been fully started, initialized or is ready, whatever it says. Then you can remove your fingers and you should be good to go.

Hi David,

I did hold the two fingers for over five seconds and it still did not speak at all.

Carol,

The fact that you heard the short chime indicates that your tablet is likely powered on.

First, hold your power button for about 3 seconds.

After releasing the power button, try pressing two fingers on the screen. If you hear VoiceView speak, keep your fingers held down until you are advised that you can lift them up.

OK, I admit it.  I can't get my tablet started.

Hi,

My battery discharged completely and I don't remember how to turn my tablet back on. I can hear the chimy sound. I have tried holding two fingers on the tablet, both landscape and portrait. I still can not get speech to come up. Can someone please help? Thanks.

Carol
