Thanks, David. I think pressing it twice should do the job. I tried pressing it
once and pressing and holding but I did not try pressing twice. That's probably
the trick. Thank you. I am really quite impressed with the accessibility of the
fire stick. They've done an excellent job.

Hi Mary,
The software for voiceview has updated since I bought the Fire TV stick.
Let's see... You can use the menu button on the remote for at least three
things. Press it once for more info, or press and hold it to turn review
mode on or off, or, press it twice to bring up a menu of options.
Try this - Go to the Home screen. Move to an app, then press the menu button
on the remote twice. You should get a menu of what you can do with that app.
Note that the available options will depend on the app. For example, for
Amazon Music the only two options I was given were to move the app or to move
it to the front... front of the list I suppose.
I did have YouTube installed on my Fire TV stick. I moved to it, pressed the
menu button on the remote twice, and got a menu. I could move through the
menu with up and down on the remote. One of the choices there was to
uninstall the app. I selected that and YouTube was uninstalled from my Fire
TV stick. Now here's the thing, while the app is no longer installed, it
still shows up in the Your Apps and Games section. Now though, the choices I
have if I press the remote's menu button twice is different.
Yes, if I go to Settings, then Applications and then to Manage installed
Applications I can get options for the individual apps. For some the list of
options include uninstall. For some, but not all.
Did this help any?

Hi David,
Can you give me a couple of examples of apps you were able to delete? Did
you follow the procedure recommended by William, which involves going to
settings, then apps and manage apps? And you actually saw an uninstall
option there? Or did you do it some other way? I tried a couple of apps that
I installed, and I haven't yet tried doing Williams next suggestion of
force stop"then looking for an install. So that might work. But I'm curious
what you did. I also want to call Amazon accessibility and see what they
have to say about that long pressing of the menu icon and how that opens up
Voice view review mode instead of letting you delete apps right from there.
There should really be a workaround for that, and I hope there is.

Mary,
I have a Fire TV stick, but am not anywhere near an expert user. Having
said that, I can delete apps I have installed onto the stick. However,
there are some Amazon apps that are installed for which I can delete the
data and cache but not the app itself. And then there are apps that show
up on the Home screen even if they are not installed. I do not think there
is a way of removing these from the display.

I'm not sure this question is quite on topic for the VI kindle list, but
at least it's a Amazon related, and I don't know of a specifically
dedicated list for the fire TV stick. I'm trying to figure out how to
delete unwanted apps from my Fire TV screen. There are things in there
that I don't want, like sling TV. Voice of you says that in order to move
or manage an app, when the app has focused you're supposed to press the
menu icon. But when you press and hold the menu icon, you go into review
mode. That's not helpful. If you just press it and let it go, I don't
remember what happens, but it's nothing good. So I'm wondering if there is
a problem, a conflict that is, with a voice view and this particular
function.
