I use BARD extensively on my 7-inch 7th Generation, and it’s awesome! i’ve no
volume issues as some of you guys have talked about it on here before. What I
do though sometimes, to better enjoy a book because of my 70% hearing loss,
I’ve a CoolStream Duo bluetooth device which one of my ncles passed on to me,
which I have linked to my tablet. I then plug earbuds into the CoolStream’s
headphone jack, and once sure the tablet is linked via Bluetooth, away I read!

Good luck. I have found that navigating kindle books on my fire is,
problematical, to say the least. It's ok if you want to read a book straight
through, but to go back over something you want to review? Reading kindle
books is a little easier on the iPhone, if you have one. The fire can be fun,
but it is slow to respond. Good for audible books and music. Don't try bard
on it, though. The volume goes way down so that you can hardly hear the book.
Sorry for all the bad news.

Hi Dan,
You can mute VoiceView with a 3 finger double tap. That does help with
braille displays that aren't currently supported. They do work though so do
give it a try.
Take care,
Carla.

HiDan.
You used to be able to turn VoiceView off/on with the Kindle using your
forefinger and thumb. Hold them on the screen a little apart and bring
them together to turn VV off. Reverse the action to turn it back on again.
Or possibly the other way round, my memory is apawling, sorry. You’ll have
to experiment. It might be, however, that this gesture has been done away
with in recent upgrades.
Hope this helps,
Richard

Subject: [vi-kindle] gestures for suspending VV?
Hi,
Is there a way to use a gesture to suspend VoiceView? I am not talking
about turning speech off and on but actually stopping VoiceView. I need
to do this in order to use third party braille keyboards. They have some
kind of conflict with explore by touch and require the onboard speech to
be turned off/suspended. I can't do this via settings and then know how
to get back to the app once it is suspended.
Thanks.
