ok could there be some key commands one has to press just turned on the key

There are bluetooth keyboards with bateries, so forget that theory.
The more likely problem is that he isn't turning his keyboard on.

Are you sure you have a Blue Tooth keyboard and not just a wireless one.
There is a difference.
I’ve never heard of a Blue Tooth keyboard that takes batteries, they are usually rechargeable.
If you don’t find that paring button, then check thoroughly in the box and through all the paperwork and packing material for a very small piece that looks like it plugs into a USB port.
If you find something like that, then what you have is a basic wireless keyboard, and it will not work with either your tablet or your phone.
They are pretty cool to use with a desktop computer though.
Hopefully you will find that paring button on the keyboard.
They are usually pretty small, circular, and they are a press button, not a switch.
The switch is the power button, and in order to conserve batteries you will need to switch the keyboard off when it’s not in use.

Hi everyone,
Today I bought me a basic Bluetooth keyboard, An Anchor Ultra Slim keyboard for just under $20. It uses 2 tripple A batteries which I also got, and put into the keyboard. After taking it out of the box here at home, I treid to pair it with my Firs Tablet without success. It didn’t even show up at all when trying to search for Bluetooth devices. The keyboard was switched to the On position and even tried switching the bateries around, but all without success. I’m visually impaired and therefore can not read the instrutions that came in the booklet with the keyboard so, I am not sure if I am not doing something right. Any ideas on what could be the problem? I also tried pairing this keyboard with my iPhone 5c without any success either. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
