hi. ok. i did a little test. since i had taken for granted all the
specs thrown out by others, i decided to find out for sure how long
the battery lasted on my personal kindle fire 6" bought in august,
2015.
first, i drained the battery completely then charged it full strength.
second, i turned it on, noted the time, and, rotated it through
several applications; pandora, nls talking books, kindle books, my
music collection and youtube.
there was no dead time. the unit was on all the time.
third, i noted the percent of battery left and the time interval. the
results astounded even me. my kindle fire lasts like the energizer
bunny!
the final result? my kindle fire 6" lasted from full to no charge an
amazing 20 hours and 38 minutes. outstanding and much better than i
expected!
now, this for one user and one kindle fire, but, it is a real time
result. some ways i use the kindle fire that make these results better
perhaps than average whatever that is /smile.
first, whenever i use the fire, i always try to get the battery as
close to full drain as possible. then, when i connect to charge, i
leave it on charge only as long as needed; three to four hours for the
full charge.
second, i set the volume low and often use ear-buds.
third, the brightness is set to zero. in fact, a larger screen size,
7", 8" or 10" probably uses more battery in there own right. i don't
need the screen, so, zero brightness sound right to me.
fourth, i don't watch movies. i don't even watch the family tv. and,
if movies are the way you use the kindle fire, then one should not be
shocked on the results. i suspect movies are a big battery drain.
perhaps games too. wouldn't know though /smile.
lastly, i might be old school, and, batteries (rechargeable) might
have become much better in not retaining less than full charge memory,
but, i always drain as low as possible and also don't just leave the
device on the charger all the time or beyond the charging interval.
just not my style.
no, the battery cannot be replaced except for authorized service
center. my 11-year-old lg cell phone has the original battery and runs
for 2 1/2 hours on the same call on full charge. i attribute that kind
of life to being kind to the battery!
as for kindle and electric cars, after my test, perhaps the kindle
battery should be used in the tesla. they just unveiled a new low-cost
model @ $198,000. /smile.
of course, i know, there is the google car. and, i want one!
