I made an assumption quite awhile ago and it was a bad one. And, this
opens a whole new vista of reading possibilities!!!!
When I do conversions of Kindle protected, I always convert to Kindle
unprotected, mobie, text AND epub. Because, I participate in book
discussions and although I never really have read the epub format,
others do.
So, I took one of my saved epub files and tried converting to a Kindle
asw format.
Well, it worked.
Now, I'm wondering, can one convert tet to other formats as well? You
can be sure I will try every permutation possible when I have time
this evening.

can be converted to other formats with Codex. I just ran a test and it
worked fine.
For quick trial, I converted a reasonably-sized book, a literary fiction
book, from epub to rtf. Although rtf would not normally be my first
choice, I wanted to see if it worked. The answer is yes.
Simply highlight the epub and choose Codex and select convert to .
Arrow through the choices and press enter. You will have an option to
open the finished book at the end of the conversion, if you wish to look
at it.
