Ridge, So good to hear you have such a great partner to work with and that you = two have such an easy relationship. Your patience and positive teaching = will pay off when you do put that harness on. The trust and bond you've = created with him is the best "training tool" in the world. Keep up the good work! And congratulations on stabilizing your vision = loss. Clyde doesn't even take his toys out of my hands. I don't know if he was corrected for = this when he was a puppy or what.... being a stray I will never know. when = he opens his mouth for one of his toys I get really excited and praise him = big time. he still wont take it from me but we are slowly getting there. I have been hand feeding and I think this has helped us grow a bit closer. = if in the middle of feeding I have to go do something I can put the bowl = down on the floor and he wont touch it. it is working great for the leave it command. I still use a gentle leader on him even though he would rather = I didn't just because he still likes to smell everything when we are on = the move. he is the most gentle, mellow, loving dog I have ever had. he is about 19 months I figure. he is happy to just sit at my side and have = me pet him. I do let people pet him when we are just sitting waiting. he = is really good when I do th is. I have found out that if I let him say hi to people when we are = just sitting he ignores them when we are on the move. he does show me curb = cuts now. I still don't have a guide harness on him and don't know when I = will. we are working good at this point with just what vision I have and him showing me things. OHHHH!!!! my low vision Dr. at Mayo clinic said my = eyes are finally stable. I still have to wear my dark lenses for my retinas = but the holes arent getting any bigger since we changed to the dark lenses. sorry off topic but just thought I would share. but Clyde and I are = coming along he still puts his paws on my chest when Im not getting all the CO2 = out of my system. well just wanted to let everyone know that we are still = here and doing good.
