I have, for sniffing, theuy all seem to go through a sniffing stage and it
allows me to tell when they are duckin their heads..
Zair was like that at first in harness..I worked on clicking any increase in
pull, even that brought on by interest in other dogs or the little lunge you
get when they are first excited to be going after a long down-stay or a borin
meeting... Its funny because he does have a lighter overall pull than Alex,
who was definitely a puller..I think a lot of over and under pulling has to
do with their confidence.. time and experience tended to even things out..
Zair requires more mental support than Alex.. each dog is different.. the
confidence that you can get with working with clicker methods is a untapped
gold
mine for softer dogs especially and helps them to be more confident in knowing
exactly what it is that the crazy human wantss.. it really helps them
understand us more.. it is like us going to a country where we donnt speak the
language. we arent very confident and it is a lot easier if someone shows us
what
the words mean rather than correcting us because we dont..dogs arent born
knowing speaking our languAGE, just aswe dont learn theirs unless we really
observe and study..Just my 2 cents.
