Diane, I don't think it's been hot enough that Gretch burned her paws.
It's hit the nineties and been quite humid, but I've noticed no dancing
or discomfort whatsoever anywhere I've been this summer. Since she's
been so fine since Thursday, I find it hard to believe I won't be able
to work through this, and I am not going back for a few days and I'll be
really careful and not in a hurry when we do return to that
intersection.

Sheila,

That makes me wonder, Could Gretchen have burned her paws on that
particular
crossing at some point in time? I have had dogs wo reacted poorly to the

pavement, especially black top in the streets really poorly, making them
do
things they would not normally do with respect to crossings and the
like.
There may even be a place which conducts more heat than where she was
taking
you.

These along with other training tecniques are all things to consider in
trying to sort this all out. I am glad to see that she is working
solidly in
other places. There may really be something with this particular
crossing or
an incident which has sparked this concern of hers. I think I would work

with it gradually to see if you can get her through it.

I still say, if she can handle a a Renaissance fair with all that goes
on
there, she has something going. If she was really going to cave in, I
would
have thought that would do it.
