You use it as a target. Very similar to the tape, or target lid, it just
has a sound attached to it, smile.

Shelly, I am missing something here. What did Michelle P use the shelf
liner and bell for? What did she attach it to?

I think because sight is so emphasized on a lot of the books on Clicker that
the concept of doing without sight is frightening to a lot of traininers,
smile.

I am not a pureist, so I don't mold a behavior from capture, which would be
difficult, I do use some Khoeler in that i will kind of encourage the dog by
using lures, or some pressure, either say on their rump or on a paw, or I
will do a physical tap or other signal to them to do a behavior I want.

This way i control everything that the dog is doing. But am also rewarding
what i want the dog to do, and once I show him what behavior I want then I
wait for the dog to make the decision to do the behavior and there fore get
clicked and treated for it, and I fade the lure.

One thing that Michelle P. showed us at the Clicker training session at the
GDB reunion was a small piece of shelf liner, with a bell attached to it.

Simple cheap, you can make it any color for better contrast if you can see
contrast, have seen that shelf line in almost every color, the bells are
cheap, and she used wire to attach it.

Plus you heard when the dog touched it.

Was a nice thing.

Laser pointers I have been told are great for teaching targetting if you
can't physically use a target stick.

I just got information back from the school I trained from, that they are
concerned about blind person teaching clicker training.
Now this doesn't mean I will stop here, but since it is hard for them as a
sighted person, then it would be hard for us.
I shared that I was getting ticks from blind persons, and that I felt the
blind could teach the blind pretty well.
What are some of your thoughts?
