David,
It also appears that I can use the function keys to scroll as well, including
the soft D2.

David,
I have some questions for you, which will help troubleshoot the problem.
Please lock and unlock the lock switch to confirm that it is indeed in the
unlocked position. To confirm, the locked position is closest to the front of
the unit, and unlocked when you slide it toward the back of the unit. Any
change after trying this?
You say that the NaviStick works, but nothing else. If you boot up in braille
notetaker mode, does pressing in on the middle of NaviStick enter the
application you are on in the menu? Try it with the Word Processor and let me
know if you can run the app.
Do cursor routing buttons work? Again, if on a menu item, try pressing them
above the name of the app and let me know if you can enter the app this way.
Physically press every button to make sure nothing is stuck.
How old is your unit? If older than two years, has the battery ever been
replaced? Sometimes an older, close to dead battery will expand and put
unwanted pressure on the motherboard inside VarioUltra. This might be
especially noticeable when the battery warms up after some period of
continuous use. If you ever notice D4 is hard or impossible to press down,
this could be symptomatic of an old battery. And if that D4 button is stuck,
it might cause other buttons and keys not to respond.
Let me know.
Thanks,
David Bradburn

Hi,
The problem isn't isolated to Braille display mode. I can't use any of the
controls at all, whether I'm in Braille display mode or not. I upgraded to
the latest patch a couple of months ago.

hi David and all.
if the described behaviour happens in the braille display mode when
VarioUltra is connected to a device running IOS 11 and above, then you have
to update your VarioUltra with the latest patch released in november 2017
and then delete your currrent pairing and pair the devices again.
best regards.

Subject: [varioultra] Inoperable Vario
Good evening,
I am experiencing a disturbing issue with my Vario 20, in which none of the
controls apart from the joystick, are working. The device keyboard lock
switch is set to the unlocked position, the device has a reasonably full
charge, and was plugged into a power source, and the device was reset by
long pressing the power button, all to no avail. The display itself works
fine, but the only thing I can really do is navigate menus and submenus in
the onboard operating system. What suggestions do you have for resolving
this issue?
Regards,
David Bouchard
