The earliest arrival date I have around Richmond for Blackpoll is April 23, 1982 (based on Fred Scott's notebooks supplemented by my records and others). The mean arrival date is 1 May (based on 52 years of data). So this date is early, but not unheard of, and seems to buck the trend this year of things being a little later!
