A few minutes ago, at the corner of 23rd and Grace Streets, Richmond VA 23223,
I recorded a persistent sound that I thought might be an owl.
Or else a synthetic owl call? On the MCV campus a few years ago, there was a
synthetic owl call (a sort of screaming, very different from tonight's sound)
which someone told me had had been put there to scare passerines.
What I heard just now is at http://jacobwegelin.net/tmp/JNK/, an m4a file, ;
faint but audible.
It's very uniform and recurs every few seconds, like "Hoo! hoo-hoo-hoo!
hoo-hoo-hooooooo!"
Any idea what this is?
