Had a beautiful paddle today hugging the shoreline along the York River until we could slip into the gentle paddling of Taskinas Creek. Most bird activity seemed to be out in the "Big Water" with great looks at Green Herons, Bald Eagles and fish-carrying Osprey. Refreshing to have a blue sky with puffy white clouds on a hot August day. Fish broke water all through the day and the mud flats were alive with crabs zigging and zagging into their holes. Highlights: Brown Pelican Great Blue Heron Green Heron (many) Osprey Bald Eagle Laughing Gull Yellow-billed Cuckoo Ruby-throated Humingbird Belted Kingfisher Eastern Wood Pewee Acadian Flycatcher PrairieWarbler Orchard Oriole ...and other expected birds of the woodlands. Great day-will sleep well tonight. Julie Kacmarcik Chester
