Had a nice hour at the Wetlands this morning between 8:30 and 9:30. Some highlights were first-of-year (for me) ACADIAN FLYCATCHER and CHESTNUT-SIDED WARBLER, a PILEATED WOODPECKER enjoying some tasty bugs from the railroad ties leading to the pond, about fifteen feet away from me, and a female RUBY-THROATED HUMMINGBIRD on a nest. The nest shouldn't be too hard to find if you're interested. Cross the bridge to the west side of the creek separating the Wetlands Section from the Pony Pasture section and head toward the river. At the first downed tree across the creek, sight along the trunk back toward the east bank. About ten or fifteen feet back, there is a gum sapling, and the nest is on a branch on the right side of the sapling about 20 feet off the ground. Also had ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAK, VEERY and SCARLET TANAGER in the same area. Warblers seen or heard: Yellow-throated Prothonotary C.
