The latest arrival today at Bear Creek Lake SP was a WOOD THRUSH - seems early. A RED-BREASTED NUTHATCH was heard calling at the same location as last week. The water level in the lake and feeder streams is significantly (about 2 feet) down from a week ago. Maybe the lake is being drawn down deliberately. This was done last year for dam repairs, and it generated mud flats that attracted a surprising number of shorebirds this far inland.
