Michael, Nothing surprises me when it comes to titmouse calls and songs. One time I thought I heard a Great-crested Flycatcher, but then I saw a titmouse sitting on top of our feeder making that same sound. I'm not sure I know exctly what "TEE ker, TEE ker, TEE ker," sounds like but I bet a titmouse can do it. The suspect in question ended up being a Tufted Titmouse (actually, there were two of them doing it, apparently calling to each other), but none of us had ever heard that particular Titmouse sound before. It wasn't at all like the usual "peter peter peter." Neither Kaufmann's nor National Geographic mentioned a call like that (ditto Stokes and Sibley). Anyone else ever hear a sound like that before from a Titmouse? Michael Shapiro northside You are subscribed to VA-Richmond-General.
