Julie - I think it is very fitting to rename this count in honor of Larry.
I have fond memories of gathering back at his and Mary's house after this
counts.

Here it is birders, the email you've been waiting for to make your holiday
complete.. Our annual LRJRWC is scheduled for Saturday January 19, 2019. In
honor of our dear friend Larry who we lost this past year I have taken the
liberty to rename this count in his memory. For so many years Mary and
Larry welcomed our muddy boots, coffee cakes and bird stories into their
home.
Here's an overview:
*Who:* Anyone who loves the outdoors, birds and contributing to the
conservation of the JRP
*What: *An informal survey of the bird species of the JRP system
*When*: Saturday 19 January 2019 sunrise-ish until 1030 with a group
compilation brunch to follow
*Where*: 8 sectors of the James River Park System
*Why:* An annual event for decades that gathers data on the JRP and is a
great time to meet with old time and new friends.
Hope all of you have fared well from the snow and are enjoying birds in
your yard. The JRWC has been going on for quite a long time.
All are welcome.You will be assigned a sector of the James River Park with
3-4 folks, one serving as team leader. Your mission should you decide to
accept it is to seek out and document all the bird species you can find in
your sector. We will then meet for a group contributed brunch and
compilation at Unity Church near Byrd Park (details on that from Eileen
Geller). Unless there is someone out there willing to take on this lot!
For now...mark your calendar and reply to me *OFF the list-serv* as to
your interest. (I am not on any social media). If you have a sector request
I will try and honor that.
