Hundreds of swallows over James River downtown, scores in sight any one time, working way upstream against winds, apparently feeding. Mostly TREE SWALLOWS. -----Original Message----- From: va-richmond-general-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:va-richmond-general-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of WEalding@xxxxxxx Sent: Monday, April 16, 2007 4:28 PM To: va-richmond-general@xxxxxxxxxxxxx; va-bird@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [va-richmond-general] Swallows The wind today kept most birds hunkered down, with the exception of a large number of TREE, NORTHERN ROUGH-WINGED and BARN SWALLOWS. They were feeding very close to the surface of our lake, and fighting the north wind. The Roughwings and Barns were both year birds at this location, and I suspect they were arriving migrants. My husband said their flights were delayed! Wendy Ealding Powhatan County ________________________________ See what's free at AOL.com <http://www.aol.com?ncid=AOLAOF00020000000503> .
