A friend at our house heard a summer tanager this afternoon--eastern Henrico--but we didn't see it. It was in the same spot that one was seen at the Audubon picnic a couple years ago. Normally they arrive the first week of May. And on our early morning walk this morning we heard the call. It was too dark to spot the bird, but we'll keep looking.
