A friend at our house heard a summer tanager this afternoon--eastern
Henrico--but we didn't see it. It was in the same spot that one was seen at
the Audubon picnic a couple years ago.

Gerry, this post of yours gave me hope that last year's absence of summer
tanagers from our area of Eastern Hanover, where they had also been breeding
for several years, may have been a fluke. Normally they arrive the first week
of May. And on our early morning walk this morning we heard the call. It was
too dark to spot the bird, but we'll keep looking.

A lovely pair just arrived this am at our house where they've been breeders
for many years - along with Scarlet T's.
