The park and a couple of dozen other organizations are clebrating the
return of migratory fish to downtown Richmond --- First 14th St Fish Festival
-- on Saturday, May 1. We are mixing Biology, Recreation, and the Arts.
Scientists will have microscopes and fish parts, underwater cameras, fish in
tanks, kits to test the water, etc. Fishing stores and the Fish & Game Dept.
will
have fishing equipment for would-be sportsmen to sample and boats to take
people out. Audubon will have spotting scopes and some volunteers to look at
fish-eating birds. Buses will take visitors up to Bosher Dam to look at the
fish
ladder. VCU and the City Rec. Dept will have kids and adults doing modern
dance about water movement and fish. A guy with Soil and Conservation will do
a
wandering troubador bit singing folksongs about fish & water. There's a
bunch of other stuff. Could I interest you in coming down for an hour?
       Ralph
