We had a nice walk at Lee Park in Petersburg this morning. We looked at, or heard, 38 species of birds including Yellow-billed Cuckoo, Acadian Flycatcher, E. Wood-Pewee, Great Crested Flycatcher, Red-eyed, Blue-headed, & White-eyed Vireos, Swainson's Thrush, Northern Parula, Pine Warbler, Prairie W., BlackPoll W., Black & White W., Prothonotary W., Ovenbird, Common Yellowthroat, Scarlet & Summer Tanager, Rose-breasted Grosbeak, & Baltimore Oriole, plus other regulars. We had two knowledgeable botanists with us to describe the numerous flowers. We will do more walks at Lee Park! On May 21st the Petersburg Garden Club will sponsor a walk at Lee Park led by Donna Ware, Botanical Consultant to the book by Nancy Kober, With Paintbrush & Shovel. This is a walk you should not miss if you are interested in plants, and the fascinating history of the park. John Coe You are subscribed to VA-Richmond-General.
