Environmental Ethics and Culture: 
Funsten Science Lecture Series at the Science Museum of Virginia 

RICHMOND - You can't escape it. You can't even ignore it. In fact, your life 
depends on the health of our environment. Find out how our behavior, beliefs 
and institutions influence our relationship with the natural environment. 
It's all at the Funsten Science Lecture Series: Environmental Ethics and 
Culture at the Science Museum of Virginia on Wednesday, April 3, 10 and 17, 
7-9 p.m. 

On April 3 Virginia Department of Transportation Environmental Specialist 
David V. Grimes presents Origins of the American Environmental Ethic. Grimes 
then presents Roots of Present Day Environmentalism on April 10.  Science 
Museum of Virginia Scientist Dr. Eugene G. Maurakis closes the lecture series 
with Do the Humanities Reflect Environmental Ethics? on April 17. 

This lecture links the relationship between humans and the environment to 
art, literature and music. The Funsten Science Lecture Series Environmental 
Ethics and Culture is sponsored by the Dr. and Mrs. Herbert O. Funsten 
Endowment. Information included in the lectures comes from research funded by 
the Jeffress Foundation. Funsten Science Lectures are free.
