HI Eric,
I have Rose-Breasted Grosbeaks just about every year (still waiting for 2018).
My experience is they will go thru Sunflower or Safflower like crazy. They also
will decimate a suet cake in a New York minute. Suet is usually a draw for
almost any bird. Listen for a loud "squeak" like a sneaker on a gym
floor...that is their trademark chip or call. They also have a beautiful song.
Good luck...you'll get one,

You can never go wrong with black oil sunflower seeds for any bird you
want to attract. The grosbeaks seem to prefer platform feeders but I’ve seen
pics of them eating at all types.
If it makes you feel better, I’ve been feeding birds for 20+ years and
have had a grand total of ONE come to my feeders, and one stopped to eat
dogwood berries.

I have a large tube feeder, several thistle-seed tube feeders, and a
large platform feeder.
Small yard in Southside Richmond.
