Below is short report of highlight birds seen in addition to a link to the full eBird list with photos. Curles Neck is private, trespassing is not allowed. The farm hosts winter flock of the Lesser Snow Goose Subspecies. This subspecies is predominately in the blue morph form, the opposite of our coastal Snow Geese (Greater). Many Canada Geese and other waterfowl also winter here. Among the mass of geese, rare geese are regularly recorded. On our trip, we recorded group of 5 Greater White-fronted Geese and 3 Ross's Geese (photos are in the link). Other birds of note were at least two Black-crowned Night-herons, an uncommon bird in this area. A small flock of shorebirds which included a Pectoral Sandpiper, Least Sandpiper, Wilson's Snipe and Greater Yellowlegs. We had nice looks at White-crowned Sparrows and quick looks at a Fox Sparrow. Horned Larks and American Pipits were calling overhead all day. Six Tundra Swans decorated a pond for much of the day. Check the RAS website for other upcoming field trips.
