The issue of using acronyms for bird species surfaces periodically on every bird list that I read. Folks, writing out "mourning dove" takes only a few seconds longer than "MODO." Not everyone has access to the short-form lists or the time to look up ones they don't know. Please, for the sake of clarity, spell out names. "N" for "northern " and "E" for eastern" are readily translatable. "b-t blue warbler" is easily deciphered. Plain English, please.
