Birds and the Backyard Habitat Well-known birding expert Craig Tufts of the National Wildlife Federation (NWF) will present Birds and the Backyard Habitat at Lewis Ginter on Friday, May 2 from 7-8:30 pm and again on Saturday, May 3 from 9:30-11:00 am. New Birding Trail A new birding trail at Lewis Ginter will also open on May 2. Birders can explore a one-mile-loop trail that wanders through woodlands, meadows and other habitat settings within the Garden. Focal points along the trail include six bird-feeding stations, seven wood duck nest boxes mounted on poles near the lake behind historic Bloemendaal House and a half-dozen bluebird boxes. On May 2 and 3, the Garden will be open for two hours prior to each Craig Tufts program so participants may visit the new trail.
