Subject: Birding Opportunities at Lewis Ginter

The first weekend in May is filled with activities for birding
enthusiasts at Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden in Richmond. Below you will
find short descriptions and links to more information. Please feel free
to pass this along to interested friends.

Birds and the Backyard Habitat
Well-known birding expert Craig Tufts of the National Wildlife Federation
(NWF) will present Birds and the Backyard Habitat at Lewis Ginter on
Friday, May 2 from 7-8:30 pm and again on Saturday, May 3 from 9:30-11:00
am. For program details, click here.

New Birding Trail
A new birding trail at Lewis Ginter will also open on May 2. Birders can
explore a one-mile-loop trail that wanders through woodlands, meadows and
other habitat settings within the Garden. Focal points along the trail
include six bird-feeding stations, seven wood duck nest boxes mounted on
poles near the lake behind historic Bloemendaal House and a half-dozen
bluebird boxes. On May 2 and 3, the Garden will be open for two hours
prior to each Craig Tufts program so participants may visit the new
trail. For more information about the trail, click here

Bluebird Volunteer Training
A training program for volunteers interested in maintaining and tracking
activity in the bluebird boxes on the trail will be held at 10:00 am on
April 8. Click here for training details.
