All I was trying to do was unload the car from a very successful day banding at
DGAP (more to come this week on that)..when a hummingbird caught my eye feeding
on Lantana. I dashed in the house to get my camera. Came back out to my "blind"
to wait for the little guy. I heard a distinctive chip under my Pokeweed but
dismissed it. In the distance I heard a FOS White-throated sparrow.
Cardinals started coming into the Safflower followed by the hummingbird that
darted back and forth from nectar feeder to Fennel perch. The little guy looked
like he was going to doze off as his eyelids looked heavy. The "dismissed chip"
made her appearance (Common yellowthroat) and perched on the Fennel. It all
happened so quickly it was hard to get a decent photo. So much was happening!
I felt like Dr. Doolittle.
Anyway...here's a few shots to show you what was in my little garden area
today. Also including a photo of a Long tailed Skipper that was here last
weekend.
DGAP was loaded with birds..we banded 5 Blackpolls (just a teaser for an
upcoming email).
Yay cool weather!
