any chances that the killfawns fluttered off the roof by themselves (prompted by their killdoe and killbuck parents?)--are they fledglings? -----Original Message----- From: Michael Shapiro <sc.tanager@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: Richmond listserv <va-richmond-general@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Mon, 6 Jun 2005 20:11:56 -0400 Subject: [va-richmond-general] Killdeer update Hi, all - The "Killdeer on the Roof" (apologies to Norman Jewison and Sholom Aleichem :-) were instead on the ground today. Somehow, the parents had gotten their "Killfawns" (thanks, Jim!) off the roof. So much for "tradition." The birds are too small to have flown off on their own, so I'm guessing the parents carried them off in their beaks. I suppose they could have been a different Killdeer family, as I have seen at least two pairs around. I haven't seen any on the roof since that one day, so I don't know what else to think. Also, I heard a Prairie Warbler as I was leaving. I heard one in my neighborhood last week, too. Michael Short Pump You are subscribed to VA-Richmond-General.
