Come and Join us on the James River Sojourn, June 23-29 Registration deadline is June 14. You may sign up for as many days as you want to paddle, from one day to a full week. The James River Sojourn is a weeklong canoeing and kayaking expedition that features educational programming, riverside camping, restoration projects, festive meals, meetings with elected officials, and much more. Novice and experienced paddlers alike enjoy a unique on-the-water experience that builds a strong environmental ethic, while having a lot of fun in the process. The Sojourn aims to elevate awareness of the James River's importance to the region and to encourage local residents to play an active role in its restoration. The 2002 James River Sojourn will begin on Sunday, June 23 near Maidens Landing and will continue, with overnight camping stops, white water rafting, and occasional shuttling, down to Shirley Plantation. Participants are welcome to paddle the entire week or a portion of the week. Non-paddling programs are offered throughout the trip.
