Paddled Harrison Lake in Charles City this after. Perfect day to do anything outside. Stacks of turtles on logs and calling Pickerel Frogs and Fowler's Toads. Beavers have some massive lodges throughout the lake Lots of bird song from the Yellow-throated warblers and Louisiana Water thrush as well as many Blue-grey Gnatcatchers. A surprise "Hooo-waah" from a Barred Owl as I headed to the take-out made me paddle a little slower. Always a favorite spot for a local paddle or an afternoon of fishing.
Here's some of the bird highlights:
Osprey
Bald Eagle
Red-shouldered Hawk
Barred Owl
Canada Goose
Black Duck
Belted Kingfisher
Rusty Blackbird
