The inspiration for National Audubon's logo dropped by today to visit our pond-turned-vernal pool, which is still chock-full of frogs and salamanders thanks to a rainy summer. I didn't have time to stick around and watch "him" for long, but when I returned a couple of hours later, he was walking along the roadside feasting on insects. There are a number of ponds in the area teaming with aquatic life, but I guess an egret knows what he likes! K. Cook Powhatan, VA
