The Glossy Ibis was at Henricus today at approx. 11 a.m. feeding in the muddy area between the Observation Platforms. The bird was observed for half an hour and hardly moved from the area. A Blue-winged Teal was also seen with the Ibis. Seemingly hundreds of Tree Swallows are buzzing around and checking out nest boxes. Sadly, a Clapper Rail was found dead on the side of the road in this general area. The bird was obviously hit by a car given the nature of the injuries. Perhaps some speed bumps would be more effective then the copper-roofed colonial style speed limit signs. Julie Kacmarcik Chester, VA You are subscribed to VA-Richmond-General.
