It's Great Backyard Bird Count time again!
But the GBBC site is acting weird. Yesterday when I tried to look for a
species using their search blank (blue jay), it squawked about whether I
want to confirm my submission. Huhh? I hadn't submitted anything yet. So I
tried searching for Blue Jay again and got this time a notice that I was
about to submit a report with few birds on it. I clicked anyway and it
finished with a report of zero birds at my location! I had to delete that
immediately. I went back and inputted my submission again, this time using
Chrome's search utility to find the birds I wanted to report.
In the past I could find maps showing where specific submissions by people
were. For example, it would have a marker on Byrd Park pond and clicking on
it shows how many geese, etc were reported. I could not find that this year;
only a generalized gray rectangle, with gray meaning there were submissions
and plain map meaning there weren't any submissions.
Furthermore the historical record only goes as far as 2012. What happened to
2013-2016?
