BIG thanks to you for standing up for menhaden, "the most important fish in
the sea."
Because of the outpouring of support from you and other committed advocates,
the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission (ASMFC), the group of
Atlantic coastal state representatives that manages and conserves nearshore
fish species, received more than 127,000 individual comments supporting
strong, ecosystem-based reference points in the management of Atlantic
Menhaden. THANK YOU!
But now we need your help once more.
ASMFC is meeting on November 13 to review these comments and take a final
vote on this important issue. And we need you there.
Menhaden are a crucial link in the Bay's ecosystem. But the Chesapeake Bay is
not seeing the number of young menhaden it did historically, raising concerns
for anyone who cares about the Bay's health.
Join whale watchers, charter boat captains, bait fisherman, sport fisherman,
scientists, bird enthusiasts, students, conversation advocates, and Bay
lovers for this historic vote!
Need a ride? We have you covered. A free charter bus will make two stops in
Hampton Roads and one near Richmond to bring you to the meeting—
