ARK (Area Rehabber's Club) does so much to care for and heal injured
wildlife, including birds. Thought I'd pass this along so members would
have the opportunity to contribute if they'd like to (hint, hint).

  > Give a holiday gift to local wildlife!
  >
  > The First Annual ARK Wildlife Tree (sometimes plagiaristically known as
  > the "ARKangel Tree") is up at the Rockwood Park Nature Center. It
  > consists of a beautifully lit tree decorated with tags featuring your
  > favorite local wild animals, one to a tag.
  >
  > Each tag is topped by a cut-out image of the animal and gives a
  > wildlife-saving tip or two, specific to that animal. On the back,
  > holiday shoppers will find a list of presents (most are quite
  > inexpensive) they can give to help ARK help their very own animal here
  > in the Greater Richmond area.
  >
  > The tag is also a bookmark, keeping the Wildlife Hotline number and
  > ARK's website close at hand. The tree and its decorations sit atop a
  > table which holds a sign explaining the gift-giving process, a holder
  > containing ARK's brochures, and small photo albums showcasing adorable
  > wildlife, to inspire folks to get involved.
  >
  > Instructions on the tag and signage encourage patrons to select a
  > favorite animal, choose a gift, and return it to a dropoff point, "back
  > here at the Nature Center, or BirdWatchers, Wild Bird Center, Wild Birds
  > Unlimited, or Dirty Hands Garden Center."
  >
  > The tree will be accessible during the Nature Center's open hours
  > (currently Thurs-Sun, noon-5 pm), so here's one more way you can urge
  > your favorite helpers to experience the joy of holiday giving ; )
  >
  > NOTE! If anyone has a public spot where another such tree could be
  > located, please let me know ASAP and I can make you some tags for it. I
  > have no more trees, however!
