I saw a hawk this morning, along with a lot of squawking, I guess from a blue jay that was in the area. It was in a tree just over in the neighbor's yard. I then saw it fly off, and remembered a reddish chest, and some white on the wings. I thought it was a Red-Shouldered Hawk. I looked up your address, and found that you live in my development, so now I think I may have seen your Cooper's Hawk instead. I am on Pinetta Drive, near Midlothian and the Powhite. I also saw hawks near my house early in the summer, and am wondering if they were Cooper's hawks as well. Perhaps it was the sound of dripping water or maybe her hawkeye noticed the splash of the water on the birdbath or maybe she just wanted to cool her heels on a hot day. She took but one sip of the water as she lingered at the birdbath near the feeders where all avian activities had abruptly come to a halt. In a flash, she was gone. Naseem Reza
