Wendy,

I have been enjoying my PURPLE FINCHES up here in the north country of
Beaverdam as well. I have had two males and one female visiting for about a
week now. I moved my Christmas tree outside close to my feeders and I string
fresh fruit and not so fresh bread on it every now and then. The birds seem to
enjoy the extra cover if not the food. And YES I did string colored lights on
it as well! It may seem a bit odd but the color helps me survive February.
Maybe on a cold, windy February night the Finches can snuggle up to a warm
glowing light bulb and dream of spring!

Is it my imagination or are the GOLDFINCHES getting golder? "My" CAROLINA WREN
is making good use of my suit feeder this week. Now if he would just sing me a
spring song! Maybe the colored lights will get them to singing soon.

Enjoying the view from the window.

A pair of PURPLE FINCHES at the sunflower feeder and a brightly colored male
PINE WARBLER on the suet were highlights at my feeder today. We don't often
get Purple Finches this far south in the county.
